4 Weeks In A Row
You couldn't have got odds on it. For the past four weeks we have had good fresh powder mornings on both Friday and Saturday. What a contrast to last Tuesday when we went to Charlotte Pass in brilliant sunshine.
Wednesday, exactly as per last week, was blow-down day. I didn't rush out to do Easy Does It chair again. Thursday was Memorial Race day and just like last year, the dreaded R word, uninvited, crashed the party.
Yesterday, as the 4-week pattern goes, we had poor vis and fresh snow. Today, Saturday, more fresh snow and much improved visibility.
Opening of Kosi chair was delayed due to extended de-icing. I queued with most for Snowgums. After an extra slow ride up I saw a few in front of me drop in under Snowgums chair whilst everyone else went left towards Supertrail and World Cup. I took first tracks down the middle of Merritts Falls and onto BunnyWalk. The snow was great. Out of BunnyWalk and first tracks down Bag Jump run (sans Bag). With the sun shining and only a set of figure 8s in front on me on lower Supertrail I stopped and took several photos before completing 8s on Lynne's tracks.
I then joined the queue for Kosi chair, still not open, where we compared notes on how great the run had been. From the top of Kosi, most split to either the Bluff or Eagle Way towards Supertrail. Speaking of the Bluff, it had grown enormously from the wind depositing so much snow on it.
I chose to have second tracks down under the chair before joining Plan B2 for a good untracked run deep into the trees. Little Beauty still had good lines on it. My 3rd run off the top was still in untracked until the trees below Cannonball.
What a morning. Karels and The Basin had so much untracked white between large fields of brown. There certainly were signs that the torrential rain had washed away a lot of snow even up on Karels before being recovered by the latest snowfall. Finally, five of us did the Gap. The top was sweet although the light was very flat even in the trees. The final drop was slow but totally untracked. I did 3 turns to the bottom :-)

It's still blowing outside. Hopefully more snow tonight. I'm not greedy ;-)
Already the forecasts are predicting more snow next Friday. My reading of the 540 charts today indicates the new snow coming Thursday. Five weeks in a row? Could it, will it? Stay tuned.
Happy Birthday Richard (for Sunday).
Ski Patrol Race is on Tuesday (Sep 11th) at 10am on Rossi Race Course. A fun event with sausage sizzle and drinkies.
