Sand Dunes of the Snowy Mountains?

Surprisingly the snow base was firm, speaking relatively for November, however further dust storms left us wondering whether it was a snow base or sand.

With a pleasant breeze and lots of sunscreen we did not get overly heated considering the climbing. The snow was not fast but certainly not sticky and both the climbing and skiing were easy going.

A picnic lunch and some enjoyable turns made for a fun day, albeit a little short as we started late and the last chair back down to Thredbo was at 4:30pm.

With daylight saving it was feeling as though we could easily get another 2 hours in before departing the range.

I don't know if I will get up onto the main range with skis again this year. The melt down of the remaining snow base is accelerating and the slopes (dunes) are getting smaller every day.

Stay tuned ... you just never know what is coming next.
