Guns, Guns, Everywhere There’s Guns

Less than 2 weeks to the official start to snow season 2009 and Thredbo is mostly ready. There are a few more days before the early bird Platinum Pass discount is over (see Thredbo’s web site for details).

There has been a mixture of good frosts, mist, drizzle and other so-so weather. The result is that most of the snow that fell several weeks ago has melted but the ground is cold and ready to accept whatever Mother Nature or the Snowmaking Crew can dish out. Apparently the snow makers are on stand by and waiting for ideal conditions to start whitewashing the slopes.

There’s nothing much on the short-term radar but then …

Grump: Shortly after the Jazz Festival, the pass-holders lane at the NPWS gates on the Alpine Way was closed. Hopefully it will reopen before the June long weekend and stay that way.
