And All That Jazz
Firstly, Happy Mothers Day to all mothers, especially mine. Well, the weather has been quite wonderful, cool days and clear blue skies with frosty mornings and moonlit nights. The downside is how busy I have been. Nobody is saying anything but there have been too many major computer crashes in the past two weeks to just be a coincidence. Personally I suspect one or more powerful computer viruses have infiltrated not just personal computers but major servers across the country – but then, who would admit to that. The result has been major disruption to not only our own web sites and email but also numerous clients’ web sites spread over several ISPs.
No, I haven’t had a ski yet. Yes, that’s how serious it all is. I made a point of taking a break over the weekend to catch up with people important to me, have a walk out back and to enjoy some music and well earned sleep.
I think the average age of the audience and certainly of the artists is dropping below that of those at the annual Blues Festival. It is pleasing and inspiring to see so many teenagers both performing and listening to the Jazz, often wrongly seen as “old folks music”.
Meadows on Saturday
New snow guns on Little Beauty and True Blue
Mt Kosciuszko track was popular on the weekend
Signature Hill
North Face
Fresh splinters on the foot bridge
Kirrawee High School Stage Band - excellent talent
Spectrum Big Band in the Village Square
Howler's Australian All Stars
A great weekend of so many variations on Jazz
Thank you one and all
With only a month to go before the official start of the snow season, maintenance will be frantic fitting in all those last minute jobs. The mountain looks ready and I believe snow making will begin next week. There’s already a good base to build on in the upper areas, although the melt has been more intense this weekend than at any time since the first snows fell 2 weeks ago.
Happy Big Birthday Ray.
Weekly Grump: My sister and business partner had her phone line unexpectedly cut off on Tuesday morning and it was not repaired till Thursday. No phone, no internet, no email, no service, no apology, no refund, no excuses. As far as we know the problem was at the exchange. Telstra should not be allowed to maintain the landline infrastructure. It should be under government control as an essential service. Bring on Rudd’s high-speed internet alternative ASAP.
