Could It Be Early Onset Dementia?

Temperature inversions meant only low level snow making after Monday night. Up top temperatures have been on the plus side of zero for more than 48 hours.

What? - I didn't make first chair this morning? I didn't even know skiing was on until this afternoon.

I don't know what sort of bubble the Thredbo media team keep themselves in? A quick glimpse at the Thredbo web site home page this morning and there was big print "Friday Flat is opening tomorrow for the first turns of the season". The key word being "tomorrow".

When Amanda told me, after lunchtime, that Friday Flat was already open, I went home and looked closer at the Thredbo web site. The news on their home page was "old" news. The fine print (see snapshot below) showed that it was an "old" social media posting - posted yesterday. I'm sorry but "tomorrow" never comes. All they had to say was "opening Wednesday".

Anyway, I changed and hopped on the shuttle bus and did my obligatory 6 runs inside an hour - that's 55 minutes riding EDI and 5 minutes doing short turns ;-)

I had not donned ski boots since the long weekend last October and I'm far from peak condition. I discovered 3 things at Friday Flat. Firstly my goggles need a clean. Secondly my edges need a sharpen. And thirdly that the term "muscle memory", that I was relying on, was non existent. Could this be the first signs of early onset dementia?

Oh well, I survived to ski another day - possibly tomorrow before a late morning appointment in Jindabergenhofen.

The forecasts are again all over the place. The bureau is forecasting the most snow Friday through Tuesday (as much as 72cm), followed by Weather Zone and then almost nothing from the Frog and MountainWatch. The 540 line indicates no snow at all.

And an afterthought:- I heard that the reason that last Saturday's ice carving wasn't around on Sunday was because a group of deranged sub-humanoids smashed it up late on Saturday night. Why do these creeps bother coming to Thredbo? Why do they bother breathing? Do us all a favour.
