The Colour Of Snow
Red people, yellow people and many other colours besides.
I was told that each Prefecture (province or state)
has its own colour. Large groups (mostly school children) would spend 2 or 3 days in the
resort with everything provided: skis, boots, poles, ski suits, hats, gloves, goggles,
accommodation, meals ... etc. Yes they were all numbered and in the evening they left
their skis all night stuck in the snow in very neat rows at the bottom of the lifts.
Honesty is probably the greatest virtue of the Japanese people - something we could do
with in every western culture.

Hard to see but they are all dressed in purple |
Paterson's Curse was one quick remark
heard upon seeing hundreds of the purple clad beginners.
At times the weather and snow combined to clad
everything and everyone in many shades of grey.

Signs, Signs, Everywhere There's Signs
As everywhere around the globe, signs will always put some colour in
your day. Sometimes in more ways than one.
Not speaking the language did not appear to present a problem but I
did notice amongst the younger locals that the more you tried to speak their language the
more they would impress you with their English language colloquialisms such as "See
you later" - very impressive I thought.

Fast or high on something! |
However, some of the translations into English were
interesting if not bemusing.
