Just a Quickie Follow-up

The Kosciuszko Express finally opened on Sunday morning to an expectant crowd (weekend queue). Supertrail was groomed as was Upper World Cup. I found World Cup to be somewhat softer than Supertrail. Others found off-piste much softer but below BunnyWalk that turned heavy, especially where snow making had left a man-made crust on top. It was certainly entertaining to watch from the chair as the punters, mostly boarders, tackled the somersault-inducing runs

I was very happy with how my body had pulled up after my efforts on High Noon and Merritts on Saturday and a fun night out on the town for Peter's birthday. You must get down to the Burger Bar nee Knickerbocker nee Credo and check out the black burger buns and quality contents.

But I digress. After 4 runs top to bottom my quads were screaming at me and reminding me that I hadn't really skied since October 2015 and I was anything but fit.

This morning (Monday) with much fewer people on the hill, I joined the early crew only to see World Cup had not been groomed but a big night of snow making had helped to improve the cover, especially at Ski-in Ski-out corner. Personally, I found under Snowgums chair on the fresh man-made was probably the best of it, although I did come across one ski patroller picking herself up after a snow snake had tripped her up on the slower (not quite sticky) man-made.

My body was telling me about the previous two days skiing and so this morning I just did 4 runs as a kind of "hair-of-the-dog" stretch and exercise session. There's more days ahead.

The air temperature up top has not been above -4C for sometime and the recent snowfall is settling in as a good base for what's to come. Thursday-Friday looks best for freshies at the moment. With ACT & NSW school holidays starting on Saturday I expect to see considerable crowds fighting for whatever lift space is available.

It remains cold in the village with snow still sitting on many of the rooftops.
