Scratchy Not Itchy

Due to technical difficulties this is actually Tuesday's report. Wednesday (today) was just as cold as Tuesday but with a much firmer base. Now for Tuesday's report:

Monday morning provided a little light relief from the hard pack. About 5cms of fresh was deposited before lifts opened and may be up to another 5cm fell during the day.

Under the fresh was the icy hard pack so runs like the Bluff were interesting – keep in the gullies between the moguls and only look for the untracked gullies.

The snows forecast overnight and today never appeared and with less than 1cm of natural to be found this morning, the off piste was somewhat scratchy.

The very low overnight temps and lack of wind did mean a heap of new man made on the major trails – up to 15cms deep in places.

Although the crowds appear down on last week there are lift lines developing by mid morning.

The forecast is rain and then snow Thursday into Friday. I’ll probably stick to my early morning high-speed groomers until either the winds or clouds drop some new snow.
