Two Hard Days

After the soft slop on Tuesday I was amazed to find Wednesday a much nicer day on the slopes. The groomers had done a great job covering up the thin spots and then groomed the slopes before they froze from top to bottom.

The Supertrail was firm and fast - the fastest I've encountered this year.

As the day progressed the snow softened and by today the cover was starting to show signs of how soft it finally got.

Thursday also started firm but despite the best efforts by the slope staff, the snow cover had worsened. There was a temperature inversion overnight and Merritts Falls was already softening before 9:00 AM. I had thought yesterday that bringing out the rock hoppers was perhaps premature but today's conditions proved that to be untrue. I actually touched two rocks on my last run - rocks that weren't showing yesterday.

All that said the weather is superb, albeit colder nights would see the snow making restart. With school holidays starting in just over a week the sparse crowds on the slopes have been a godsend. Still no T's on any of the T-bars but experience has taught me that things change quickly around here.
