Rosco's Report

Here we are in 2013 and today's temp in the village is reportedly heading to an ugly 25C with other parts of Oz going way, way over that.

Thredbo welcomed the change of year with Adam Thompson from the Chocolate Starfish performing in the Village Square to a considerably smaller crowd than attended the concert at the completion of Snowy Ride in November. It was well appreciated by all.

Speaking of November, Rosco has completed Day Two in the Niseko Region and has gratefully sent some snaps.

Rosco also reports that a fair chunk of Thredbo-ites, past and present, (including Davo, Errol, James and Cassie) were spotted in the area escaping the Aussie Summer and enjoying the fresh pow.

Having been out of the loop for a while, I only heard yesterday of the death of Jonathan Disher late last year. Jonathan, who had been battling pancreatic cancer for some time, will be remembered by many, not just as a long serving Thredbo ski patroller but also being amongst the small group of Thredbo patrollers who in 2007 helped to save the lives of 22 Japanese skiers caught in an avalanche outside the ski resort of Hakkoda.

On the other side of the coin: A big Happy 90th Birthday to Norman.
