Right on Queue

All but the last signs of the snowfall in mid May had vaporised and overnight temperatures had been too high on all but 2 nights to make snow when the first real winter weather system moved up from the Southern Ocean.

Yesterday the slopes of Thredbo were covered in grass but by mid morning today there was a fresh covering of snow all the way down into the village.

With the official start to the 2003 snow season in Australia only two days away this sudden dump is indeed welcome.

The weather bureau believes the big storm is coming on Friday and Saturday when blizzards are predicted.

What a great start to season 2003.

Please watch out on the roads - they were extremely slippery today and I encountered several large roos in broad daylight between Thredbo and Jindabyne.
