Record Breaking Levels
Despite the fact that we are having our second sunny day, the water level in Lake Jindabyne continues to rise.
I went to Jindabyne on Thursday and took the following photos of the record water height around the town and of the water level nearing the top of the spillway on the dam wall. I was also told that the Mowamba river had been diverted back into the Snowy River but lake levels continue to rise. Then today I saw the following notice on the Snowy River Shire web site:
Jindabyne Dam Levels
It is Council’s understanding that the water level in Lake Jindabyne has risen considerably and Jindabyne Dam is now spilling There is no public access to the Jindabyne Dam site and the Snowy Hydro website has updates about lake levels and other information.

On my short walk out from Eagles Nest yesterday I saw that all the pools were full of water but I must admit I was surprised to hear frogs this far past Summer.

Water level is up about a metre from my photos last Sunday
Water well above the walking path around the lake
Amazing sights all around the lake edge
Banjo Paterson Park - Jindabyne - beside the Bowling Club
I hear locals were wake boarding through the park last week
No place for a picnic at the moment
locals say many snakes have been flushed out by the rising waters

Looking downstream from the bridge towards Eagles Nest
Don't forget that the 25th Yalumba Jazz Festival is on in Thredbo 23-25 March.
On a very sad note, local entertainer "Birdie" died along with his two young daughters in a car crash near Braidwood last Friday. Many of you will have enjoyed his eclectic guitar playing and singing in bars in Thredbo over the years. I know he will be dearly missed by all.
