Just To Tease

We didn't get the huge dump some forecasters predicted. It has been clear most nights but the snow guns have now been running continuously for days & nights.

We had 2-5cm in the village and with cold daytime temps the snow is not melting. I suspect around10cm fell up top.

There appears to be enough snow to open quite a bit of the resort this weekend. Friday Flat, the bottom of High Noon and Sundowner look surprisingly good.

On the way to lunch Marion and I took a quick drive to Dead Horse Gap. I had been thinking about the new bridge over Bogong Creek and wondered how slippery the new curved structure might be. As my photos below show, the metal track has teeth similar to the Kosi walking track. Good grip for shoes not so good for those who used to ski over the old bridge.

More snow is forecast over the next 24-36 hours. The opening weekend should be a hoot, even if just to see how the new ticketing system works ;-)

Come well rugged up. It is really cold with wind-chills in the silly range. The quality of snow at the Gap was light, squeaky and dry - that's how cold daytime temps have been.

5pm: It's snowing again!
