That's Not a Queue - This is a Queue!
Easter is traditionally a busy time in Thredbo and with the school holidays and today's sunshine it all resulted in the biggest queue I have ever seen for Kosi chair.
I remember the first time I went to Mt Kosciuszko, it was Easter and sunny and upon reaching the summit I was shocked to see some 400 others already there. But then I didn't find a lift queue like today. Not only did today's queue loop back across to Ramshead chair, it looped twice and then continued down the stairs back past the ticket office across the river and back to Friday Drive.
I must make a correction on a previous report or tweet about all the snow having melted. A visit up top last Thursday revealed some patches of snow still visible on Karels and Signature Hill. Today there was much less but still the small distant patch could be seen.

Snow and cloud above The Basin
Today's queue for Kosi chair around 11am
with a double loop back to Ramshead chair
And queuing back down the stairs
Daveo reorganised the queue Red Indian style - let's form a circle
While others waited for Ramshead to open to take up the overflow
Meanwhile the queue was back past the ticket office
And back down to the river
The forecast snowfalls for this week did not eventuate but we continue to have cold nights and there was a good frost in the village this morning. It doesn't look as though we will get that White Easter I was hoping for. The forecast is for more sunshine, cold nights and warm days - perfect for holidaymakers.
Grump:
Shame on National Parks for once again NOT opening the pass holders' lane at the park entrance into Thredbo. Today would be the busiest single day of the year in Thredbo and I was told the pass holders' lane was NOT open this morning. Not only was the pass holders' lane closed for this Easter weekend but it was also closed for last weekend's for Jazz Festival when I went through on both Friday and Monday. It should have been open for the entire school holidays if not 365 days a year.
All those broken promises made when NPWS increased park fees so massively. Promises of providing an "OPEN" pass holders lane.
Hopefully the newly elected state government can and will bring National Parks into line, anything short is taking money on false pretences.
