Yet Another Month Has Past
After a near perfect day yesterday the same rolled up today for the start of October. Blue sky with a cool fresh breeze and only later in the day did some clouds appear. Temps on the mountain stayed relatively low.
I went out closer to 10am than 8:30am figuring that a little softening of the snow wouldn’t hurt. The groomers were the best of it - soft but fast and reasonably consistent. Off piste, although softening had very firm lumps and ruts that wanted to take over control of where your skis & boards were travelling.
The lower Supertrail was very poor. The weakest link is now at Bunny Walk station where you could not avoid the rocks and gravel mixed in with the mud-coloured snow/slop. I suspect that unless the snow fairy has some big magic up her sleeve that there will no longer be “top to bottom” runs after today.

It’s not all bad news. Work has begun to put a snow track into Mid Station on the Kosi Express. A lot more work will be required but the upper Supertrail is really nice and the T-bars are all standing up well to the sun. Luckily the crowds are not big and wear and tear on the high traffic areas is minimal.
