The Morning After

After a great Beach Party at the Schuss Bar last night, where the village said farewell to Wozza, everyone had today on their mind. Good snowfalls yesterday (be sure to see yesterday’s report) and intermittent snow showers in the evening had everyone expecting great things today.

At 8:30am there was a lift line at the bottom of the Kosciuszko Express to get first tracks. We hadn’t had as much snow as some of us expected but who cares. The entire mountain and village were covered in fresh snow. People came from everywhere. Many were locals who had given up the thought of skiing or boarding any more this season.

The Bluff was a favourite first up and the Supertrail was much improved. Karels, The Basin, Sponars, Antons, Wiamea and even Boundary Rider provided great fresh tracks. The snow was not as light as yesterday afternoon but in places it was boot deep.

Despite the occasional snow shower, by mid afternoon the rising temperature had the bottom half of the Supertrail getting very sticky and quite an ordeal to navigate. The higher slopes were still a treat. It is snowing lightly again and the sky is still very overcast. There is nothing forecast but the last week of the season looks like being a lot of fun and once again that brown-stained snow has been covered up.
