A Slow Start Is A Good Start
Thursday it rained heavily in Thredbo until around 3pm, while I was still shopping in Canberra. It was dark as I drove up Penderlea Hill into a blizzard and snow was beginning to settle on the tarmac.
Friday provided the best day of the season so far with a couple of cms light and dry on top of a good corduroy base. High Noon was very enjoyable both skiers left and right and the terrain park was almost complete.
Saturday morning arrived with the opening of the Supertrail via Snowgums chair. Alas moisture turned the upper half into sticky stop-n-go snow. Below Bunny Walk was better but also had a thinner cover. I did one run and called it a day. Yes, it was still drizzling all the way to the top. I heard from those who waited till the temperature dropped sub zero that the upper slopes improved in the colder air.
Sunday, I did not venture out. I thought about it then dawdled too long as the sky got greyer and the humidity went the same direction as the temperature (higher). I eventually went helmet hunting with Annie. With lots of help from the girls in all the shops, Annie finally found what she wanted in Amanda & Reggae's shop.
This morning the snow on Supertrail was firm and fun. Marion, Jax and I joined only a handful of others out enjoying the blue sky and fresh cord.
The T’s are on Antons ready for that next snowfall. Eagle Way is groomed and also awaiting one further natural dump before we see Kosi chair open for skiing and boarding.

So that's two days without skiing this season. You can't get them back and I already know of a few more days that I won't be out there.
The early maps look good for snowfalls next weekend.
Anti grump: Picked up my new Rossi skis (the 2nd prize in last years Ski Patrol Raffle) from Jindy Sports after having touring bindings fitted. I won't take them out quite yet ;-)
Grump: Not enough time to prepare my promised Telstra grump. Hopefully next time.
