Never A Quiet Moment

It has been quite a week. Wednesday was foggy, Thursday cool and sunny for the Memorial Race (click here for details). Friday was Ski Patrol Race and today was very warm.

Thanks to the organisers (Ski Patrol), the many sponsors, Rodney and race crew for another fun event. That pretty well completes the competitive season for 2009.

The snow base has been exposed to above 0C temps for more than 24 hours meaning it was all soft. Despite this, we have our Hump Run back. Last night the grassy and muddy X course was pushed out and the true run returned but for how long? The snow is suffering from the big hair-dryer.

Grooming has been abandoned on Lower World Cup, True Blue & Little Beauty but to make up for it, a single cat groom has been done on the rock garden from the top of Karels right down to the top of the Rim Run. I managed first tracks down it this morning.

Later in the morning, I went with Marion, Rob, Sal, Ian & Steve out towards Sth Ramshead. The wind was strong and I had my kite. Poor judgement had me attempt to fly my kite below the Big Ramshead in a steadily increasing wind. It ended badly and I now have a long task to untangle my threads before my next attempt.

More hair dryer conditions tomorrow with the hope of snow tomorrow night. How quickly the season rounds up. It has all happened too fast once again. Conditions permitting there will still be another 8 or 9 weeks of touring left. May be even some more kiting if I ever get the knots out of the lines.
