What a bonus to get ski days this late in the year. Marion and I decided early on Wednesday (yesterday) to hike up from Snowgums and out to Signature Hill.

Much of the recent snowfall had since melted and even places we skied on Monday were back to green vegetation.

We skinned from the metal track beyond the bridge and made our way up to near the top of Signature Hill. Exposed grass prevented us from skiing from the very top. The white snow was slicker than on Monday and made for much more enjoyable skiing. Some of the old red snow pack was beginning to show again. This was considerably firmer than the white.

The glare from the white snow was quite intense - remember we have had red snow since mid September. The pharmacy reports there have been many cases of snow blindness and severe sun burn.

On our final run (yes we had several on the top section) we weaved our way between rock and grass and made several small creek crossings (only on one did we have to remove skis) and by joining all the white dots, I skied to within 10m of the bridge, whilst Marion skied across the metal walking track so she could ski to the bridge.

Believe it or not but this morning on ABC radio South-East, I heard a forecast for possible snow down to 1500m. There is still no sign of the forecast thunderstorms yet but tomorrow's forecast looks very wet.

I heard a rumour yesterday that the Kosi chair re-opening may be delayed for some days due to having lost work time with the unseasonable snowfalls.
