Uni Week 1 vs Richard 0
No thanks to the agents, owners and tenants who simply have no regard for anyone else in the village and whose only concern is the almighty dollar.
I returned to Thredbo after Uni Week. Having experienced the first night of Uni Week with absolutely ZERO sleep I was not about to hang around. I’m not about to harp on about how I felt after 40 hours without sleep and I’m not about to tell you where I spent the following 6 days and nights. Be it enough to say that as soon as appropriate accommodation becomes available I’m out of here. After almost 7 years the situation in my apartment block is worse than ever and if I end up in another resort, in another state – so be it.
OK, down to today. It snowed all night and the report in the morning was 16cms of fresh. Surprisingly, this rang true. It snowed all day and by evening the report said 30cms. This may be true but only tomorrow will tell.
The snow was dry and light. The wind blew in from the south-east but was only noticeable above Kareela Hutte. Below that the snow drifted down vertically and was the lightest snow I had encountered this season. Yes, it was fun - a lot of fun. I did manage to hit a number of rocks as the untracked light cover suckered me into many a place I had not been this year. Visibility up high was poor but once in the trees all was rosy.
A groomed True Blue with a fresh 15cm
High Noon
It snowed all day
View from the pedestrian bridge
No wind meant maximum build up in the village
Fresh tracks under Snowgums
It snowed all day and the forecast is for more over the next couple of days – before the BIG front hits later in the week.
I believe in Karma and only one day after the Uni students left, the best snowfall of the season was upon Thredbo. Suck eggs!!!
Just may be, later in the season, I will tell you about my big adventure away from Thredbo. In the meantime, don't be surprised if I disappear to happy places without further notice.
