A Furious Pace

Although the snowline is rapidly receding back up the mountain the top is holding its own. Cold temps and westerly winds are helping to build a good base which is firming up nicely. The snow is dry and squeaky underfoot but without snow shoes you can suddenly find your leg sinking up to 50cms in places.

Meanwhile the resort races forwards preparing for the winter season only a short time away.

I've heard there is a contingency plan if the Cat Track is not ready in time but your guess is as good as mine. The weather might have the final say.
