Dates to Remember

I didn’t catch much of the Cold Rods that came to Thredbo. The scheduled Hot Rod festival was met with sub zero temperatures, snowfalls and howling winds in excess of 100kph. Not a very conducive situation for shining your vehicle and putting it on display.

Yes, we had snow although not nearly as much as the Victorian resorts have claimed. My calculations are 5-10cm up top. What fell and settled in village on Saturday night (a couple of centimetres) was light and squeaky dry. Wind chill temperatures were down at –40C. By late Sunday morning the snowline had retreated back up above Lovers Leap and the village warmed to a very pleasant +7C by mid afternoon.

Ah – those dates:
May 23rd Kosciuszko Express reopens, as does Eagles Nest.
May 26th Snow making is due to start.
June 7th Long weekend and official opening of ski season 2008.

Although not forecast, I am predicting snows during the next 7 days. I’ll tell you the reason after the event.

Happy Birthday Dan. I’ve seen the photos of what went on in Canberra over the weekend and thought better of publishing any of them. It must have been quite a night.

Happy Birthday Hannah (Friday) and Linda (Saturday).
