Blue Window

Friday and Saturday provided a brief window of blue between the thunderstorms. This meant a good opportunity to get outside and take in some fresh mountain air.

Temperatures were, as I am told, hot during late January and early February. The cooler air and high rainfall since then have been welcomed by all except the flies, which have virtually disappeared.

Walking off the metal track was out of the question for any but those armed with waders or gummies. Amazing how moist everything has become since the very early dry in December last year.

The drought through the entire area appears to have broken. From Cooma to Thredbo and down to Dalgety, the countryside is wonderfully alive.

For those awaiting a report on my time in the northern hemisphere, well you’ll just have to wait few weeks longer.

Farewell to Macca, whose final farewell fling I missed by only one day. I hear it was quite a night.
