Welcome Start To 2007
Happy 50th Thredbo
After weather forecasts of foul weather leading up to and beyond New Year, we eventually got rain on New Year’s Day, moments after the first of the Thredbo 50th Birthday Celebrations had concluded. While surrounding areas had hail and torrential rains prior to New Year’s Eve, we had only enough drips to convince the organisers to set up a tarp in the Village Square for Mark Travers’ band musical trip from 2006 to 2007.
The square was full at midnight and celebrations continued on inside for many hours after.

Thredbo Players doing A Midsummer Night's Dream
Then at 11am on January 1st a good crowd still managed to congregate in the Village Square to see the first of many 50th birthday celebrations planned for 2007. Kim Clifford began the celebrations, Ian Foster then talked about some of the exciting events that are to occur during 2007, Brad Spalding and Ian did a wonderful sketch about Charles Anton and Toni Sponar discussing plans to build the resort of Thredbo. Following this we had the book launch for Jim Darby’s glossy Thredbo 50 book covering the past 50 years of history in Thredbo.
Finally Frank Pihroda cut the birthday cake. Champagne and cake were supplied by KT and then the rains came.
The Thredbo players ‘alternate’ version of Shakespeare’s comedy ‘A Midsummer Night's Dream’ is being played several more times during January.
