Season 2005 Has Started
Good snows, in excess of 40cms, prior to weekend had the resort on winter alert. The weekend was a mixed bag.
Saturday was a brilliant day. Blue skies, light breeze, no crowds and snow. Friday Flat was open but I didn't get there. The Cruiser at Merritts was open with 3 runs open as was the totally revamped Merritts Restaurant and toilets - excellent. Merritts was accessed by both the Merrits chair and Gunbarrel chair.
Snowgums chair gave access to the upper Supertrail and World Cup with reloading at Bunny Walk station. Everyone agreed it was a great way to start the season.
Sunday arrived with more snow falling. It was very wet in the village but snowing above Bunny Walk station. The wind was up and the number of adventurers was way down. There were less than a dozen on the Supertrail this morning.
Speaking of adventurers, a group that went to climb Mt Kosciuszko on Friday arrived back safely on Saturday morning after being forced to overnight on the main range. No names mentioned but amongst them were some doing the 7 summits. It is ironic that the easiest of the 7 should present this mishap.

The forescasters predict more snow this week. A little more snow should see top to bottom riding on Crakenback and High Noon.
