One Last Fling
After Sunday’s fun on Signature Hill I thought about indulging in one more ski and to do it in December. This would make another ‘first’ in my limited ski history – having never before skied in the month of December any where in the world – let alone Australia.
It was quite hot (in Thredbo terms) both Monday and Tuesday and December 1st turned to torrential rain. I thought that would have finished any chances of accomplishing my dream this year. However when I looked out at the mountain at 7:30am this morning I thought – just may be.
A couple of phone calls later to other gather support and Marion, Acacia and I met at the bottom of Snowgums chair just after 9am. Acacia also brought along Matt – professional photographer running HotShots over summer in Thredbo. Matt came equipped with cameras rather than skis.
Surprisingly the air temp was only 3C and there had been an overnight freeze and even a little frost. The snow was very similar to the previous Sunday - one centimetre of soft on a firm base and not at all sticky. The snow pack had receded somewhat and the creek crossings were certainly different.
We put in 6 runs each and all enjoyed the morning, leaving just as the snow began to soften a little more.

I doubt if I will get another chance this year but having skied for the first time in the month of December I can happily put a way the skis till Japan next year.
