Balls, Balls and More Balls
Last week the cover was lovely and soft each morning. I didn’t stay out late on any one day.
Saturday the resort turned to boilerplate. Merritts was probably the best of it where some fresh man made helped.
Sunday was firm but a tad softer than Saturday and the skiing was enjoyable on piste when you found some soft.
It rained all Monday and I didn’t consider going out but rather enjoyed a sleep in.
Today provided a little fresh snow. I found 3-5cms on Karels and 1-2cms on the Bluff. The fresh snow fell on top of an amazing field of frozen cricket balls - mostly off piste although I did find a couple of footballs on the Supertrail. The balls on the Bluff were frozen to the base while on some slopes they broke away with ease. As the morning progressed the balls softened and I was still getting fresh lines off Cannonball at 11:30am.
The big event for the weekend was Jax and Wazza’s 50th birthdays and 30th wedding anniversary as well as the return of Annie to Thredbo after an 8 week absence. A magical night – one to remember - was put on by Jax and Waz. Even Rosco made the pilgrimage from Melbourne for the big event.

Balls on Karels and balls on the Bluff made for slalom-like runs on the fresh snow

Crackenback this afternoon - before and after going to Jindy
High Noon / Sundance before and after snowfall
The forecasts for the next week are all over the place. I went to Jindy this afternoon and when I returned some 3 hours later the village was white. It is snowing as I write this report. Freshies tomorrow? I hope so.
