Bonza Mate

After yesterday we had expected some big soft wind drifts in the upper parts of the resort. This was not to be. Instead we had dry wind-packed untracked all over the top half of the resort.

I enjoyed four hours of skiing on untracked dry snow in glorious sunshine with just a light breeze. Below Bunny Walk station on Crackenback the snow was firm - a racer’s dream. It wasn’t until you reached the last bend in the Supertrail at Crackenback Ridge that the groomed snow softened.

Today was without doubt one of the better days of the season. This is how August should have been. With mostly locals on the mountain there was enough untracked for everyone and even at 12:30pm we were still getting freshies on Sponars.

The top of Signature Hill was (like everywhere else up high) very pleasant

Unfortunately the bottom of the mountain is not holding up like the top. The last few hundred metres of the Supertrail were looking very poorly after midday. Don’t know how High Noon is holding up but the upper sections look fine.

There are still firm (some would call ice) patches but the sun softened these enough to easily carve on.

The really good news is that almost all the brown discoloured snow has been beautifully white washed and will now be able to reflect those strong Spring rays of sunshine.
