That Dreaded 'R' Word

Temperatures have been rising all week as weak NW systems headed our way. The snow was still very good on Wednesday when I made first lift with Leif (training for interschools). Yesterday was surprising – a temperature inversion meant that the snow was soft to Bunny Walk and then frozen to the bottom, but each successive run had the bottom softening. By midday the first of the r*** began to fall and I got off the mountain as the snow became progressively stickier.

It r***ed heavily last night but was getting lighter this morning and as the temperature slowly dropped the r*** turned to hail and sago in the village. Yep, the slopes have suffered somewhat from the precip but at least it was snowing up top, well, that’s what the reports say - I didn't venture out to check.

We even had lift hold due to lightning this morning and the bureau has a strong wind warning. It’s all happening here.

Masters is on tomorrow. Let’s hope the r*** has gone. Pity the interschool racers at Guthega is in the usual abhorrent conditions that generally prevail for any school race day.
