Prayers Answered
The wishes / prayers from last Sunday’s Blessing of the Snow were realised during the week. With about 30cm falling up top and 10cm in the village together with snowmaking we have a base to play upon.
Merritts opened today for the first time this year and with the perfect weather conditions the locals were out in force.
A great way to get those rusty legs working. The off piste was very nice and we didn’t touch a single rock – unusual for me.
There’s lots of things happening in and around Thredbo that you should be aware of. Check out the News page
Sunrise over the mountains yesterday morning
Snowmaking on Upper Supertrail
First tracks on High Noon
Fresh snow, blue skies, no wind, uncrowded slopes – paradise
The Powder Bowl could do with another 30-40 cms
Unfortunately it doesn’t take long before the Ski Patrol is busy
Off piste at Merritts was truly delightful
Marion laying some freshies
Michael settling into the Thredbo life style
The forecasts look severe for the coming weekend. Gale force winds and a lot of precipitation. Reports range from rain (someone’s idea of a bad joke) to an accumulation of 80cms over the next 3 days.
According to good sources the last two times the January – May period was this dry was in 1964 and 1981 and this year was the driest of the lot. We’ll see.
My tip is to bring your chains.
