Perfect Weather For A Touch Of Jazz

The weather gods have once again been kind to those visiting Thredbo on weekends. This weekend past was the 30th Thredbo Jazz Festival. Initially I saw a lot of new names on the program but as the weekend progressed I saw more and more past favourites emerging under different band names.

I can't remember a crowd bigger on a Friday night in the Lounge Bar for any Jazz festival. With sun and just light breezes, many enjoyed the free ride up onto the main range as well as everything else the village had to offer.

I didn't get to see every act but my favourites were, without doubt, the very entertaining Mikelangelo and the Black Sea Gentlemen. There songs/ballads were captivating. Performed in either a Hungarian/Eastern European or spaghetti cowboy style some of their songs were surprisingly about the Snowies. I bought their latest CD but if you haven't seen the visual side of their performance it may be hard to fully appreciate their entertainment abilities.

I'm sure a wonderful weekend was had by all.

Kosi chair is now closed for maintenance - due to reopen for the start of the winter snow season. It is getting colder in Thredbo and even though almost all trace of last Thursday's snow fall has disappeared, the ground is getting a good chill. The forecast is still for a little snow tomorrow.

Meanwhile the colder temps have me eating more and my busy schedule has me inside more. It's time I got off the bus to O.B. City and walked back from whence I came ;-)
