Who's Counting?
After studying the weather charts I decided that I should go for a walk on Sunday before the weather turned. It was no epic trek but considering how little exercise I've done over summer it was going to help the joints and muscles.
On Monday, as forecast, the wind got up and it rained and it rained and then it poured - more than 60mm. Late in the day the temperature had dropped enough on the mountains to turn some of that rain into snow. This was now our 3rd snow fall of the year (but who's counting ;-).
I awoke to a sunny Tuesday morning with a pink/red tinge in the sky. That old saying that my grandfather taught me "red sky in the morning - shepherds warning" came to mind. And sure enough the clouds moved in and the temperature dropped and the flakes started falling before midday.
It was cold and grey this morning (Wednesday) and it was still snowing. Not much had settled below 1500m but the upper mountain looked great.

If the cold weather continues, this snow fall could make for a nice base to start making snow on. 24 days to the start of the ski season (but who's counting ;-)
Grump: Sick of politicians and budgets? I sure am - what a crock. "Everything's on the table" was the catch-call, everything except politicians' pensions and politicians' wages which had that massive increase last year (certainly no productivity rise). Why can't they lead by example, put their money where their mouths are? What a pathetic, shady, greedy, out of touch bunch so many of them are - and I'm not just talking about the government.
