First Snow for 2011

On Sunday morning I awoke to see Thredbo's first snowfall for 2011. Although only a dusting and even though it melted quickly, it was a start.

This morning I awoke to see an even heavier cover of fresh snow. Marion and I rushed to make first chair and although we arrived before 9am (scheduled start time) there was already a queue for the lift. We managed 4th chair.

As expected the snow was deeper up higher and it certainly was cold up top with a wind chill around -5C. The snowline continued to melt as the sun rose but I expect some to remain for the following forecast snowfalls to fall upon.

The Thredbo Jazz Festival is on this weekend. Everything should be open over Easter and the school holidays.

I believe Kosi chair will be closed for maintenance from May 2nd till May 27th. Snowgums chair will take over during that period - requiring that extra climb to ski outback.

I still have a studio apartment in Squatters Run for sale or for winter-long tenancy. Click here for more details.
