March Madness or Welcome to Autumn
You couldn't miss the news about the flooding over southeast Australia. And yes, it's wet in Thredbo and surrounding areas, although not as bad as I hear Cooma is.
I went to Jindabyne today and had to pass through 100m of 8 -10cm deep, slow flowing water outside Wild Brumby. After watching the 4WD in front of me pass through I applied my past rallying experience ;-) and also crossed the water slowly and safely.
Coming back a couple of hours later and the situation had deteriorated somewhat. Again watching a 4WD pass through the now deeper and faster water crossing, I determined my AWD would be OK. And it was but, I really wondered how long the road would remain open as the pavement was already lifting and breaking up - making the crossing a lot more hazardous.
A quick trip up to Dead Horse Gap with Daniel and Marion completed my flood inspections as water started crossing the road beside the Alpine Hotel.

Great weather for ducks - 5 days ago

Alpine Way to Thredbo - approaching Wollondibby Road

Brad's lakes overflowing into the valley outside Wild Brumby

Merritts Creek across the valley through heavy rain

Raging waters

The new foot bridge at DHG being baptised

So far so good - it's still in place
My best wishes go out to all those affected by the floods. The wet weather doesn't look like stopping for a while yet.
