A Quantum Of Solace - or - Contemplating Turns
When the world turns you on your head and you just can't stay in bed there's a cool place to go to let your mind go slow.
Things have been unravelling recently and it seemed another perfect day outside. The temperature had shot up quickly early in the morning but when I got above Snowgums there was a lovely cooling breeze. The snow was as it was last Saturday - 2cms of soft on firm and bouncy, albeit a little thinner.
I put in a boot pack staircase up the Main Face and another up the North Face, where I had most of my runs. The North Face required 200 less steps than the Main Face although they were somewhat steeper steps. Your average flight of stairs is around 13 steps, making the North Face around 30 flights of stairs for each run.
It was cool and quiet on the hill and I found the solitude giving me strength, time to think about the past good times and time to clear my head and prepare for what might be coming around the next corner.
On Sunday afternoon we had several snow showers
Well, there was a race on
South Care chopper taking off from BBQ in front of Alpine Aprts during a snow shower
That's the bobsled in the background
Some snow did settle for may be an hour
It must have been fun for the mountain bike racers
Today - Tuesday: And the snowmaking pipes are being laid on Eagle Way - Yeehaa :-)
The bridge and ever growing sink hole
The Main Face - filling in the gaps from last Saturday
The North Face where I tried some different lines
The bouncy surface of the snow on top of the North Face

The moths are out as the wild flowers are out
Unfortunately the flies are out as well

Today is a big anniversary for me of a day that changed my life forever and a time when doctors wanted to amputate my foot. I declined and accepted the associated risks that went with that decision. I've had one other equally big life-changing event since then and I suspect there will be more to come.
Happy Birthday Joyce!
No grump today but I feel a big one may be lurking near by. Did you email your local member (see previous report)? I'm awaiting a response from mine.
