A Really Wet One
It has rained much of November. I thought November last year was wet at 248mm but this year November has excelled itself by reaching a staggering 312mm and it's not over yet.
Mind you, October last year (2010) managed a whopping 332.4mm. Much of this came in the form of floods but there were further snowfalls and if it hadn't been for the deep snow pack, we wouldn't have had any skiing in November at all last year. Then again, late snows meant that Marion, Acacia and I skied on December 21 last year, so you just never know ;-)
Anyway, I was going back over some old photo files before Richard's Report was in the format you see today and I thought I would show you what it was like 10 years ago in 2001. There was still plenty of main range skiing in November 2001 on the red-dust-covered snow but as the photos will also show, season 2001 started rather late.

The queue got so long at Lovers Leap that it was almost back up to BunnyWalk station

which didn't even get a showing this year

Oh yes, the snow in November 2001 was really red

Best wishes to Tommy Tomasi who is recovering well from open-heart surgery and now training for the 2012 winter so he can be back on the slopes of Thredbo before his 86th birthday in July.
And I look forward to seeing Toni Sarri getting back to Thredbo after some recent health setbacks. Oh, and happy birthday for Saturday.
Keep watching for a special report coming soon about Marion's latest ski adventure.
