Going Up The Country

In-resort skiing officially closed last Monday with the shutting of the Basin T-bar. This means, for me at least, it is officially back country season, for as long as it lasts. Following Mother Nature's fire hose over the alps on Tuesday (50mm of rain pushed by 117kph winds) I doubt if my back country season will last until December 20th as it did last year.

Yesterday and today started with clear blue skies and a breeze to negate the above zero air temperatures. I rated yesterday's snow as quite delicious, with today's marginally slower. With the degradation of my body strength and body weight over the past 12 months, I'm not managing to do nearly as many runs as in past years but am enjoying what I do do.

Tomorrow the forecast looks a little feral whilst Saturday looks fine. Sunday is Bathurst car race day and then the forecast is for 3 days of snow - sounds about right ;-)

Kosi chairs closes for maintenance on Sunday so getting freshies next week means having to do that long climb up from Snowgums even before the walk out to the hill :-( That will be a test of my stamina.

Following last Saturday's Squatters Run AGM I'm sure those of you who have been following the series will find the revelation described in this grump (wikigrumps/4579700901_2014100711) most enlightening.
