More Walking Than Skiing - Saturday's Tour Part 1

My week has been a bit crazy (that should go without saying ;-) and I didn't get around to posting a report after last weekend's ski with Marion. The weather changed from calm sunny days to almost 3 days of blizzards, dropping between 20 and 30cm up top over Tuesday and Wednesday. I stayed indoors doing essentials and waiting for that perfect day to go and investigate. That day was yesterday (Saturday), exactly one week after my last ski (using Kosi chair for access).

So, yesterday I decided to take the Snowgums challenge and went out for a short ski. Snowgums was the usual slow ride. I removed my fleece once I reached the top as it was completely sheltered from the 30+kph SW wind. The course I decided upon up to behind Eagles Nest was on snow. The wind at the top was a welcome relief.

I trekked out to the 'hill' and had morning tea #1. It was amazing how little was left to show of the new snow. Marion and I had gone out to the hill only the week before to check out her waterfall and there was little difference in snow cover. Photos of that morning below, along with just a sample from yesterday.

I quite surprised to see I had taken over 100 photos yesterday whilst out on the range, some of which revealed things I could not see with my naked eye. As a consequence of so many photos that I would like to share with you, I have decided to split this report into 3 reports. The extra reports I will post in the next day or two.

I will post a heap more photos from yesterday over the next couple of days that may give you a little insight as to why I find myself called back again and again .

Here's another interesting article on the brumbies:
