From the July 2015 Newsletter to Squatters Run owners from the body corporate, I quote:
"Overall we expect an increase in levies for owners of approximately 4% this year."
Well, the body corporate's expectations were way off. The strata fees for my apartments have risen this year by 9.78%, making
a staggering 35% increase over the past 3 years.
Our levy invoices, with the increase, were dated 7th of July 2015 and the Newsletter dated 7/7/2015. Go figure. What happened? No explanation has been provided.
This certainly isn't the first time the body corporate have published figures that simply don't coincide with the bills. With accountants and
retired solicitors, making up more than half the body corporate, I expect much better.
In a previous article from last year
I criticised the body corporate over a raft of misleading statements about costs and then I went on to ask:
"Does our body corporate council (which includes accountants and retired solicitors) actually understand the numbers they are publishing?".
It doesn't seem to me that they have made any effort to learn. I'm more than happy to do the math for them - it isn't rocket science working out a percentage increase from 2 figures.
