Memorials
This is just a quickie report as so much has been happening over the past few days.
On Saturday night there was a special memorial for George Freuden, who passed away earlier this year. A large number of flare-runners presented a huge flare run, followed by a spectacular fireworks display. You can read more about George's amazing life at: http://www.thredboskipatrol.org.au/vale-george-freunden/
Today (Tuesday) it was Memorial Race day and the theme was James Bond. Unfortunately I had work commitments but I managed to get some snappies before going off to work.
The flare run on Supertrail of Saturday night
Then the fireworks
That lit up the village
And ended as most Saturday nights' display ends
Fancy dress and crowds gather for the annual Memorial Race
There was a lot of formal wear - as you would expect with a James Bond theme
The girls went to great lengths
Some took the race seriously, others seemed a little distracted
The crowd grew at the bottom as even more unusual acts took to the snow
yes that's a set of skis for two - very brave
Finally a teaser from my next report
Thursday is Ski Patrol Race day - to help raise funds for the Thredbo Ski Patrol - 10am Rosi Race Course - with sausage sangers and drinks following.
Snow conditions are still good. There has been a little more snow making when conditions allowed. Temps remain low but lower slopes are getting sugary after a few hours.
There is some snow forecast for Thursday :-)
My next report will cover the back country tour I did yesterday.
