Moving Along (albeit slowly)
Once again it's been a mixed week of weather but I'm sorry to say no big dumps of dry powder - they're still coming.
The heaviest of the rain (yes, there's been a bit this week) was last night but there was a fine layer of cream up top this morning. Looking at what was groomed, I suspect wet snow conditions severely limited what could be groomed and my guess is that the lightning last night might have curtailed some grooming as well. Who wants to drive a lightning rod around on the peaks? A good clear night tonight should firm up the base and allow for more grooming.
There had even been more snow making this week, before the temp and humidity levels went feral - not to mention the wind. Wind gusts yesterday reached a huge 154kph and kept most lifts closed all day. The wind was so strong that I had to recalibrate my weather graphs to cope with wind speeds beyond 150kph. Despite all this, the cover still looks good and if my injuries continue to improve I hope to possibly have a gentle ski on the weekend.
Below are some snappies from this morning - note the spectacular blue sky.

Upper High Noon with Antons T-bar in the background

Early turns on the Supetrail
A last minute addition from Peter showing Meadows base depth :-(
From watching first riders this morning and the runs they chose, it looked as though the snow was sticky anywhere but on the last groomed runs. Still, the weather is great.
You may have heard that Perisher announced that they are extending their ski season for an extra week. The unofficial rumour I heard was that Thredbo will be doing the same. I haven't been able to find anything on the KT web site to confirm this.
Yet another issue of my grump against the Squatters Run body corporate has been posted on:
