Snow Today Gone Tomorrow
Mothers Day arrived looking spectacular and so in a brisk 20-30kph southerly breeze that kept the wind chill sub zero I went off for a short stroll to see what yesterday's 32mm of rain had done to the snow cover from last weekend - severely depleted it - that's what.
Kosciuszko Express chairlift remains open (instead of being closed for regular maintenance) whilst Snowgums chairlift remains closed for irregular maintenance.
Meanwhile the other preparations for winter are running at full speed.
The mountain bike jumps at Kosi base are gone
And so is Ramshead chairlift (only the bottom pylons so far)
The mountain bike jump at the top of the Rossi Racecourse is gone
as is the mountain bike interchange above mid station
I tell you folks, it's harder than it looks, it's a long way to the top, if you wanna rock 'n' roll
A new section of the Kosciuszko Walk replaces dangerous loose stones
The foundations for a new Kosi Cornice
Clouds building above Club Lake Chutes
Every time I walk out on the main range I see something new - can you see what I see?
Can you see the raptor sitting above the Back Door to Signature Hill?
Now go back and take another look
May be we should call it Raptor Ridge - not a stoned crow
or may be I just need my eyes checked again?
Why is "Balls to the Wall" so steep? Probably because of the vertical rock faces.
Finally, that view from the bridge and the beautiful autumnal colours of the high alpine vegetation
Happy Mothers Day to all you Mothers.
