End Of Season Breaky Special

We had snow on Thursday all the way to the village and it was still on the roads and slopes on Friday morning. It wasn't a lot but it was still enjoyable and the freeze that came with it certainly improved the snow quality. There were freshies in The Basin under a fantastic blue sky. The new snow was in pockets between the brown bubble wrap. Desperate times make for desperate turns ;-)

Saturday was mostly covered in dark cloud that kept the temperature down. I've been wearing the fleece liner in my parka again with wind chills below -10C.

Randy & Duncan started the plotting yesterday and this morning, around 10-ish, about 20 locals dropped into Eagles Nest for our "End-Of-Season Breakfast Special". I thought it appropriate to have the "End-of-Season Breaky Wrap". Some of us had skied for almost an hour, some had not. Ski Patrol had certainly put in the most runs and Jock was accused of leaving Duncan-like trenches in the corduroy.

After brunch I went and did 8s on Karels because from tomorrow we are not permitted to ski within the resort. Karels was very nice.

Looking at Sponars and Antons this morning, my thoughts turned to those bygone days when we could load from the Traverse and still ski both lifts in conditions like today.

From now, touring time is upon us, except for those who venture to Perisher.

A big thanks to all those who made skiing and boarding possible for us mere punters.
