Richard's Report - Tuesday, 1 November 2011 2:18:33 PM

November Turns

Can you believe it? It snowed in Thredbo on Sunday. It only snowed in the village for 2 hours but they were big wet flakes that looked like settling. On the upper slopes the snow did settle for several hours before the warmth of the ground melted them away.

The clear blue sky this morning called me out to the range, albeit with a gob full of pain-killers. I figure if I push my back long enough and hard enough the pain might simply go away - in denial? All I can say is that I'm happier out there than anywhere else.

It was colder than I expected and although I climbed without my vest, the westerly breeze produced quite a wind-chill under the brilliant November sun. The rain and snow of the past days had erased my last staircase so I had the fun of putting in a new one. In all I managed climbs with 2 runs on the North face before the remaining 4 on the Main face.

As I returned to the resort, the clouds were starting to roll over the range and now as I type this report the village is in the shadow of an ever-thickening bank of cloud.

The Grump.
I thought about writing a few words about the QANTAS debacle but so many have already been said by so many others. However, having listened to parliament covering the issue, all I can say is how very sad it is to have such rude, self-centred and childish fools make up our federal parliament (and I'm talking both sides). When will politicians do what they are elected to do - represent their electorate and the welfare of their electorate? The behaviour of those in parliament makes the unions and QANTAS management look positively professional, and that's a joke in itself.
