If You Go Down To The Woods Today ...

... You're sure to get a surprise.

I went down to the woods and up the valley and round the bend and I did get a surprise. Actually I got several.

Spending probably my last weekend down the south coast before the onslaught of winter, Annie took me for a drive of discovery into remote parts of NSW where I had never been before.

I thought I knew most parts of NSW especially when competing in and spectating at car rallies back in my distant past. Even though I had covered many kms in the Bega area there are still large pockets of NSW that I had not ventured into and from what I can see, very few ever venture into some of these areas. Many of the roads were narrow gravel tracks resembling fire trails rather than public roads.

Our tour of discovery also revealed even more of the extent of the south coast floods back in March. The weather was great: typical warm, sunny, clear and calm autumn days.

So as not to over expose some of these remote areas, I won't be naming any of them. You will have to find them yourselves or speak to someone who knows.

What a difference a week makes. Only 8 days ago I was skiing at Perisher and now after their generous $30 charity ticket weekend, the snow on Perisher's Front Valley has all but disappeared.

DO NOT PANIC there's a heap more snow coming and it will fall on frozen ground. Trust me ;-)
