Water, Water Everywhere
There has been very little sun in the past week and a lot of rain. We have had some spectacular thunder and lightning and a couple of hail storms. The river is high but somewhat short of breaking its banks.
It was not the perfect weather for the opening of the mountain bike season but I saw a few happy ducks around the village.
Finally, water released into the Snowy River - last week

The forecast is still looking grey. The remaining patches of snow are receding rapidly and the snow cams and weather station are slowly returning to operational status.
In keeping with the grey skies, here is this week's grump. You decide how stupid and/or two-faced our political leaders are in regards to their plan for a "Carbon Tax on cattle methane output".
Who is going to pay for the millions of feral camels, goats, pigs and buffalo? Why not deal with them first before taxing the population of Australia?
Will Australian beef be taxed before export or will overseas purchasers get our beef cheaper than we do? Will there be a tax on imported beef?
Will we be double taxed if it is also taxed at source or will it be cheaper for us to buy foreign beef rather than Australian? Will the international trade agreements the Australian government has signed prevent us from taxing export beef or taxing imported beef?
It certainly looks like the carbon tax fanatics wish to destroy the Australian meat industry and have us eat foreign meat from countries where there is no control on carbon or any other of the extensive health controls that exist on Australian producers. Perhaps they wish us to only eat vegetables while the NSW Labor state government is trying to destroy Australia's premier farmland to mine coal. This is the same 'Labor' party saying it will tax our meat because it's the green thing to do.
