So Close – So Cold

Last night the temp went down to –9C. That’s cold. This morning there was thick ice on the roads, the stairs and the paths making moving around a dicey ordeal. A bit like negotiating the streets of Niseko in mid winter. Yes, some of you know what I mean.

The guns did stop at one point today but are going again as I type this report. Groomers have been seen at numerous points on the mountain and yes, Friday Flat and the snow runners were open today. I didn’t put in an appearance preferring to save my exercise time for tomorrow (Friday) when Cruiser and possibly Gunbarrel will open.

At last the upper mountain is looking good but it is only in the last 24 hours that the blades of grass have been disappearing under their new white cloak.

There is a little snow forecast for Saturday/Sunday and more mid week.

My next report will probably be Sunday night or Monday with hopefully many exciting photos from the slopes ;-)

Now's the time to hit the deserted slopes - get in before School Holidays and their Swine Flu.
