A Little Country In The Country
Ahhh Thredbo, perfect one day and still cold the next. The CMC Rocks the Snowys festival was held in Thredbo this weekend. The hot weather gave way for much more reasonable climes and all the flies departed. Overnight temperatures have been as low as -1.7C and good frosts have appeared on several mornings.
Last Thursday there were snowflakes falling at the top of the resort. Some even said they saw one in the village.
The crowd for the festival looked to be 2 or 3 times bigger than last year. There was an interesting mix of artists, several having tuning problems due to the cold. Ticket prices were very high and not many locals could afford to enter inside the bastion of high fencing around Friday Flat. Luckily the music could be heard a long way from the containment area.
Saturday night was mercifully warmer than Friday night when multi-layering, hats and gloves still required the wearer in taking on vast quantities of liquid fuel to maintain body warmth.

Word has it that lift ticket prices will be up for winter season 2009. Just as well that there is no financial crisis in Australia.
