The Big Ball
The 50th birthday of Thredbo was celebrated in fine and formal style on Saturday night in the Kosciuszko Room. Speeches, video, slides, role-play and dancing surrounded the best banquet I have experienced in the Kosi Room. The room was full and the event rolled on for more than 6 hours. The music was a perfect accompaniment for the evening. I could go on and on about the evening - suffice it to say, I was very glad to be there on the night.
A special thanks to Tim Bailey for his part as M.C. for the proceedings and thanks to Ian and Brad for their excellent rendition of Anton and Sponar.
Earlier in the day I was privy to the presentation of a 50th birthday gift from Kiama Alpine Club to Thredbo Village in the form of a bench seat at the 1st tee on the Thredbo golf course.
There are many more events planned for 2007. Check the Thredbo web site for details.

LATE UPDATE
Monday Morning (Mother Nature's birthday pressie)
TUESDAY UPDATE
Tuesday Morning - Crackenback
High Noon and Lower Lovers Leap Bypass (still snowing)
The weather has finally changed in Thredbo. The mildest autumn in my short memory gave way to gale force and cold winds. The wind-chill drop to –19C (the wind got over 100kmh) and there was even a report of small snowflakes being sighted on Sunday afternoon in Woodridge.
The long-rangers and the bureau forecasters are talking of snow late on Monday - up to 20cm at 1500m and falls as low as 1200m. Yee Ha!
Stay tuned.
