Bank Holiday
For some, it was a long weekend this weekend. Together with last week's fresh snow and clear sunny days, the result was big crowds all over the resort.
I started practicing for the long weekend by taking a run to Dead Horse Gap on Friday morning - fresh tracks - very nice. It did get a little sticky on the lower section and I thought that Friday's nights freeze might turn it into breakable crust. Fighting off the Thredbo Throat kept me very sedate on Saturday but a good internal alcohol rub that evening seemed to perk me up for Sunday. We had an enjoyable run to DHG on Sunday. Conditions were good enough for Annie to have her first ever attempt at the cruisey off piste.
In resort conditions are, as you would expect after a busy weekend, thin in places. Snow making continues but the bottom of Antons and Sponars (no snowmaking there) are in very poor shape today.
An untracked DHG before us on Friday
Eventually we found one track
You can ski to the bridge - carefully
Signature Hill has still not got anything like its normal cover
Wazza doing Wazza's Hill
Weight forward and soft snow
Bogong Creek
Time out for a few crystal moments
Friday Flat - Monday - Sprite Sessions, Monday - Friday
Big Air jump above Cruiser chair
The forecasters predict a little snow on Wednesday. The Top to Bottom race is next Saturday morning and it is looking as thought it will be a firm and fast event. 40cms of fresh would be my preferred option.
